Alright, this is the only time you’ll hear me say this, so savor it: this time, I kind of feel like Junji Ito let me down. This is my least favor of his works.
I don’t hate it, but it’s not my favorite.
It is still worth a read, though. Decide for yourself.
Title: Tomie Author: Junji Ito Status: Completed (3 Volumes) Genres: Horror, Josei, Supernatural, Tragedy, Drama Synopsis: These terse tales of terror tell the story of a high-school girl named Tomie, who can be seen as a living embodiment of lust and all the negative emotions that go along with it, such as jealousy. Tomie is the ultimate self-destructive entity, yet ironically she survives anything. She is identified by a mole under her left eye. She possesses an undisclosed power to make anyone fall in love with her. Through sleight of hand, or emotional manipulation, she drives these men into jealous rages that inevitably lead to brutal acts of violence. Men kill each other over her; and girls are sometimes driven to jealous rages as well. Tomie is inevitably killed time and again, only to regenerate. Tomie is cursed to go on forever in this way.
This one’s a short and sweet horror manga story; a fast, good ole oneshot.
Written, of course, by my fav. horror manga artist- Junji Ito.
It’s a fast, creepy read. Details below.

I’m back with another reading recommendation.
This time, it’s another manga title.
I loved this one. It’s short, creepy, and the artist/author is one of my favorites for horror mangas.
I know ‘fish with legs’ may not be something that interests a lot of people, but for real. Give it a shot. I loved it, and started reading it based on loving Uzumaki.

Alright, so this one is tough, because it covers a lot of touchy subjects: bullying, self-mutilation, rape, suicide, manipulation, etc. It’s really rough if you’re sensitive to those topics. But, it is still a good read, and interesting to read through. I still recommend it.
Still one of my most favorite series, Fullmetal alchemist is amazing. It meant so much o me as a teenager.

I used to be really into this series when I was a teenager, but lately the themes have left me a little more disturbed than I originally thought. It’s basically a girl sexually harassed by a guy in her housing complex repeatedly- I weirdly thought it was romantic as a teen, but I was way off, as it’s kind of a nightmare.
It’s here anyways. Read it if you want. Critique it if you want. I’m interested in what other feminists would think about it.

I’m back with another reading recommendation.
Once again, it’s another manga title.
After reading this, I can safely say that I absolute love Junji Ito’s work. I started reading his other series after finishing this one.
It’s a horror manga, so if you’re not into that genre, you may not like it. It’s pretty creepy, and pretty graphic at points.
but, if you’re into those things, like me, I think you’ll really love it!
Something to take note of: The website I posted for ‘read it online’ reads in regular left-to-right text format, not the standard right-to-left Japanese manga format.
It can be rough to get used to reading it like a regular comic after you’re used to reading manga automatically.

And in large ways: the spiral marks on people’s bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi’s father, the voice from the cochlea in your inner ear.
